Playing serves an important purpose in the lives of children, and toys are the materials for this oh-so-important work.
What can toys do?
- help build fine and gross motor skills
- improve coordination
- enhance creativity
- enhance concentration
- provide opportunities for learning social skills
- provide opportunities for communication
We all know that a child can make a toy out of anything. Even sticks and a bit of string can hold immense value in the mind of a child.
But many parents struggle when it comes to playing with our children: we don’t know how to engage with them, we have difficulty interacting using toys, following the lead of the child, and we lose interest quickly.
This workshop will show you how you can be an effective guide and playmate, while allowing your child the space to explore their environment and the materials around them.
Learn the value of toys and materials, their purpose, and what your child will gain from using them.
Join us for PLAYTIME! An interactive workshop on tapping into the therapeutic use of toys. Bring your little one, and their favorite toy, if you’d like!
Next class: June 11th, 2:30pm-3:30pm (space is limited)
